While Church of Scientology International and the churches, missions and field auditor groups which comprise the hierarchy of the religion carry out the traditional function of churches—the ministry of religious services and ecclesiastical management—there is another Church of Scientology that has a unique role in maintaining the very foundation of the religion. That church is Religious Technology Center, which performs the essential function of preserving, maintaining and protecting the orthodoxy of the Scientology religion for eternity.
